In the bay

Auto repair

Full mechanical repair in our own bays on US-82, with a salvage yard behind the building. That combination is the whole point: we can price a repair against a good used part instead of only quoting you new.

Chapter 01

What tends to come through the door

The list we work on has not changed much in fifty years: engines, transmissions and clutches, suspension, glass and seals, starters and fuel injection, alternators, and air conditioning. Around those sit the ordinary jobs, tune-ups and oil changes, plus the emergency repairs when something lets go between Leland and Greenville and the car comes in on a hook.

Certain faults arrive in clusters here. Air conditioning failures land hard in a Delta summer, because heat finds every tired compressor and every weak seal. Suspension work arrives all year, since the roads out this way are unkind to front ends, and a worn strut quietly destroys a set of tires months before it ever starts knocking. Charging faults get blamed on the battery far more often than they should be.

How the job actually runs

We test before we replace. On a no-start we separate the starting circuit from the fuel side first, because those two fail in ways that feel identical from the driver's seat and replacing both is how a small bill becomes a large one. On a charging complaint we check alternator output under load rather than reading a battery at rest. On air conditioning we pressure test before anything is recharged, so you find out whether you are buying a repair or paying to refill a system that is going to empty itself again.

Once we know what the fault is, you get a choice most shops cannot offer. Because the yard is behind the building, we can quote a tested used alternator, transmission, or piece of glass alongside the new part and let you decide. On an older vehicle that difference often decides whether the repair is worth doing at all, and we would rather tell you that honestly than sell you a repair that costs more than the car.

Estimates are free. You get the number before the work starts, and if the diagnosis changes what the job needs, you hear about it before we carry on.

Chapter 03

After the repair, and what to watch

Most parts we supply carry a 30-day warranty, and we will tell you exactly what is covered before you buy rather than after something goes wrong. When a part has failed for a customer we have refunded it, which is the sort of thing people mention in reviews years later because it is rarer than it should be.

A few things are worth catching early. Dim lights at idle and a battery that keeps going flat usually mean charging, not the battery. A damp carpet after rain is a seal, and it is cheaper to reseal than to dry out a floor and an electrical loom. Air conditioning that cools less well each season is leaking somewhere, and topping it up every summer costs more over three years than finding the leak once.

If any of that sounds like your vehicle, call the shop on (662) 332-7744 with the year, make and model and we will tell you what it usually turns out to be.
