Ed’s Auto opened in 1973 and has been run by the same family ever since, now into a second generation. The building has not moved, the address has not changed, and a good number of our customers were first brought here by a parent.
What we do is straightforward. We repair vehicles and we sell used parts, and we do both on the same lot in Leland. Most shops can only quote you a new component. With a yard behind the building we can put a tested used part next to the new one and let you choose, which on an older vehicle is often the difference between a repair worth doing and a car going to scrap.
Over fifty years of salvaging has also taught us where to look. Our inventory is indexed and searchable rather than kept in somebody’s memory, and we are tied into a nationwide network of over 2,000 yard contacts, so a part that is not on our shelves is usually still findable. We ship parts out across the country and overseas, though plenty of people still prefer to drive in, some from more than an hour away.
